Twenty Spring Nature Activities to Get your Kids Outside!

Imagine this. You’re in full hibernation mode. The weather has been too cold for the kids to want to play outside. They’ve started unearthing toys from the depths of the closets and sibling bickering is at an all-time high. There are stray Lego blocks in every corner of your home. You’ve run out of clever indoor activities and have given into excessive screen-time for the sake of your sanity.

And then, on one April afternoon, the sun finally warms the day to a beautiful 70 degrees. You take the kids outside and they play for hours. They’re not wrestling on your kitchen floor or begging for snacks every five minutes. You watch your kids run upon the green grass and you feel the sun upon your face. Life is full and bright and wonderful again.

Sound relatable? It’s not that difficult to imagine this because it is our current situation.

If you’re anything like us, you’re excited for spring and eager to break out of hibernation mode. You’re ready to break winter-time screen habits and play outside with your kiddos.

Nature-Inspired Activity Guide

To help us all embrace the spring, I’ve compiled a list of twenty affordable nature-inspired activities. Each activity can be enjoyed outside in the spring weather and entertain the whole family. The list is made to use common school supplies and natural materials to keep it inexpensive and with minimal prep. There are a few items you may want to buy (DIY birdhouse or feeder, kites, flower pots, seeds), but they’re affordable!

You can download the full nature-activity guide on Teachers Pay Teachers for free! However, a preview list is below.

I hope you enjoy the list of twenty nature-inspired activities this spring! Print the PDF and pop it on your fridge for inspiration for fun projects!
